Braden exited in the sixth inning with Oakland trailing, 1-0. Temperatures on the field were recorded in excess of 100 degrees.

Braden came into the contest sporting a 9-9 record with a 3.28 ERA in 23 games, including two shutouts.

The 26-year-old, who pitched a perfect game earlier in the season, was on the disabled list in July due to tightness in his pitching elbow.
